New paper published in Nature Communications

We're pleased to announce the publication of a paper outlining our work on probing TDP-43 aggregation. In this work, Elsa Zacco and Gian Tartaglia (IIT) have used an algorithm to generate aptamers targetting TDP-43, the protein associated with over 97% of ALS cases. We then modified the best aptamer to perform super-resolution imaging of TDP-43 aggregates in vitro and in cells. The work in our lab was done by Owen Kantelbeg who is a final year PhD student in the group.

This is a great example of how interdisciplinary research can push the boundaries to develop a new technology capable of imaging challenging targets.
