Nobel laureate presents to the Edinburgh Parkinson's Research Interest Group

Professor Randy Schekman, who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2013, gave the 2022 Parkinson's Lecture to the Edinburgh Research Interest Group. Professor Schekman started his lecture with a personal story (his wife had Parkinson’s) and went on to give a presentation on the evolution and structure of Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) – an international effort that he directs devoted to accelerating the pace of discovery and informing the path to a cure for Parkinson’s.

Before the event, Mathew presented the work of the Edinburgh Single-Molecule Biophysics Group to Randy and other academics from the University of Edinburgh. Noelia was a volunteer at the overall event, helping to ensure that it ran smoothly!

After the event, a group also went for dinner at the Edinburgh Whisky society.
